Start an investigation in chat

Write a useful request, set its location context, and follow the investigation’s progress.

Prepare a focused question

An investigation runs inside a case conversation. Create a case or reopen one before submitting a request. Describe the subject, the identifier you trust, and what you want to learn. A name alone may be ambiguous; add a country, organization, domain, or another known identifier when relevant.

Use the Skill library when you want a structured request with specific inputs. A Skill handover fills the dashboard composer for review. Review its inputs before sending; editing the generated wording can change how the request is interpreted.

Example
‘Investigate the public website example.org. Summarize its stated organization, published contact details, and the sources supporting those details. Limit the question to that domain.’ This gives Nexus a defined subject and a clear output to investigate.

Send the request

Primary search location is request context. It is not a guarantee that every source will be available in that place. If location suggestions are unavailable, the panel still allows a location to be typed manually. Clear the field when a later request should return to global coverage.

  1. Check the active case title on Dashboard.
  2. If available and relevant, expand Primary search location. Type a city, district, region, state, province, canton, or country. Choose a suggestion if one is offered. Leave the field empty for Global coverage.
  3. Type your request in Type your intelligence query…. Use Shift+Enter to add paragraphs.
  4. Select Send message or press Enter. The request appears in the conversation and Nexus shows its current progress.
  5. Wait for the response. Read any clarification, partial-result explanation, or failure message as part of the result, then inspect the linked evidence.

Recognize a pending request

The composer is disabled while the initial request is being submitted or files are uploading. Longer investigations can continue to show queued or running progress after submission. Wait for the investigation’s result before assuming that it has finished.

If Nexus says the connection was interrupted after submission, it attempts to reconnect to the investigation. If it cannot confirm whether the request was accepted, refresh the case before retrying. Repeatedly sending the same question can create additional requests.

An unavailable feature or credit message needs to be resolved before that operation can proceed. Narrowing your question improves clarity, but does not bypass plan access or the operation’s credit requirements.
