Attach documents for analysis

Upload supported files to a case conversation and request document analysis.

Attach a file to the current case

Chat attachments are documents for analysis within a case. Uploading a document automatically submits a request to analyze the attached document and provide a detailed summary. Upload only when you are ready for that analysis to begin.

  1. Create or open the intended case and check its title.
  2. Select the paperclip button labelled Attach file beside the chat composer.
  3. Choose one or more supported files. The case chat accepts up to five documents, with a maximum size of 20 MB for each file.
  4. Wait for Document uploaded. The file appears as a chip above the composer with its name and size, and Nexus starts the analysis request.
  5. Review the resulting summary against the original document. Ask a focused follow-up when you need a particular section, identifier, or uncertainty examined.

Revisit or remove a document

The analysis icon on a document chip fills the composer with ‘Analyze the attached document’ and its filename. Review or edit that request, then send it. This gives you a way to refer to a particular attached document in a case with several files.

Use the X on a document chip to delete that document. Nexus shows Document deleted after a successful deletion. This is a deletion action, not simply a way to collapse the attachment display.

Example
Attach a public report to a case, review its automatic summary, then ask ‘In the attached report, identify the passages supporting the organization’s stated headquarters and note any conflicting addresses.’ Keep the original available for comparison.

Understand upload limits and failures

Attach file is disabled during submission or upload and once the five-document limit is reached. An unsupported type or a file over 20 MB is rejected. A network, storage, or expired-session message tells you which issue to resolve before retrying.

An accepted format does not guarantee that every page, image, or audio segment can be interpreted. Check the actual analysis response for missing or unavailable content. Encrypted attachments in Notes are a separate storage workflow with a 20 MB total allowance; they are not the chat document-analysis uploader.
