Risk Change Review

Compare the two most recent saved risk assessments for a subject in a case and explain what changed in the sources, the coverage and the open identity decisions.

Risk Change Review answers the question of what has changed between two risk assessments of the same subject. For a subject already screened in the case, Nexus compares the two most recent saved assessments and explains the differences: records that appeared or disappeared, changes in the sources and their coverage, and identity decisions that are still open.

What you get

A sourced comparison of the last two saved risk assessments: changed records, coverage changes and open decisions.

Using Risk Change Review in an investigation

The review works only from what the case has already saved. It does not run a new search, so it is quick to repeat and every difference it reports traces back to an assessment on record. When the question is what the records show today, run a new screen first, for example with Sanctions, PEP and Risk Screening, and then compare it with the previous one.

A record that disappeared or a source that was retired is reported as a change, not as a clearance, and the investigator decides what the change means for the case. Risk Change Review pairs with Sanctions, PEP and Risk Screening, EU Sanctions Measures and PEP Offices and Associates, whose saved assessments it compares, and the comparison exports to a PDF report with the chain of custody preserved.

Example objectives

Run the Skill directly, or describe the objective in your own words — these are the kinds of questions it is built to answer.

  • Ask Nexus

“What changed between the last two risk assessments of this subject?”

  • Ask Nexus

“Which candidate records disappeared since the previous screen, and is any of them still relevant?”

  • Ask Nexus

“Which identity decisions from the earlier assessment are still unresolved?”

How Risk Change Review fits the investigation

A Skill is one move inside a case. The findings stay in the case file, where the evidence behind them can be checked, graphed and reported.

  1. 01

    Choose or describe

Pick the Skill from the Skill Library, or describe the objective in your own words and let Nexus work out which Skills fit the question.

  2. 02

    Review the evidence

Open the evidence record behind any finding and read the original public source before you rely on what it says.

  3. 03

    Add to the case graph

Promote the people, organizations and identifiers you accept into the case relationship graph, straight from their evidence records.

  4. 04

    Brief and report

Turn the case into a BLUF situation brief and, on Pro and Agency, into a court-ready PDF report with chain of custody.

Evidence before conclusions

What Risk Change Review cannot establish

Nexus keeps supported findings, possible matches, contradictions and information gaps apart instead of blending them into one narrative. These are the boundaries Risk Change Review states up front.

  • Risk Change Review compares saved assessments within the current case only. A subject needs at least two saved assessments in that case before there is anything to compare.
  • The review does not search for new records. Changes that happened after the latest saved assessment appear only once a new screen has been run and saved.
  • A removed record or a retired source is not a clearance. The investigator decides what each change means for the subject.

Frequently asked questions

What does Risk Change Review return?

Risk Change Review returns a sourced comparison of the two most recent saved risk assessments for a subject in the case. It shows which records appeared or disappeared, how the sources and their coverage changed, and which identity decisions are still open, with every difference traced back to the assessments on record.

Does Risk Change Review run a new screen?

No. Risk Change Review compares assessments the case has already saved and does not search for new records. To see what the records show today, run a new screen first, for example with Sanctions, PEP and Risk Screening or EU Sanctions Measures, and then use Risk Change Review to compare it with the previous assessment.

If a record disappears between assessments, is the subject cleared?

A record that disappears between two assessments is not a clearance in Risk Change Review. The record may have been removed, the source may have been retired or coverage may have changed, and each of those means something different. Nexus reports the change with its context, and the investigator decides what it means for the subject.
